This workshop is intended to provide an introduction to the CNC simulator usage for educational and industrial sector. A revision on CAD and CAM software will be conducted to give better understanding on how to use CNC machine early in the training. Afterwards, participants will be trained to use CNC simulator. CNC simulator will help the new users to practice online before they are introduced to the real CNC machine. Lastly, participants will have a chance to do hands on practical using CNC machine.

1. Advanced Machining Processes

Today’s stringent design requirements and difficult-to-machine materials such as tough super alloys, ceramics, and composites, have made traditional machining processes costly and obsolete. As a result, manufacturers and machine design engineers are turning to advance machining processes. These machining processes utilizes electrical, chemical, and optimal sources of energy to bind, form and cut materials.

2.  Biomaterial Technology

Biomaterials are nonviable materials used in (medical) devices and intended to interact with biological systems. Although different kind of biomaterials (metals, ceramics, plastics and composites) have been developed especially during last two decades, they are by no means perfect. For example, in the case of hip implants, materials are degrading severely due to wear and corrosion (polyethylene wears out at a rate of 0.1-0.2 mm/year; even the best metals corrode about 0.05 µm/year).

3. Coating Technology

We are capabilities on characterization of coatings and modified surfaces services, which includes the determination of composition, structure, adhesion, and internal stresses. The application of coatings and modified surfaces is to alter the mechanical, chemical or optical properties of materials. Mechanical properties include friction, wear, erosion, hardness and load bearing capacity.
